Hello Señorita! (How we adopted a cat)
Hey! My family adopted a cat a couple of months ago. Her name? Señorita.
Señorita came from a nonprofit organization—AMPON ALAGA—which my mom had been following on Facebook. After a couple of interviews, we were approved for adoption. And she’s been… quite nice to have around.
At first, she was confused, but she settled in fast. I soon found out how playful she was. She spent her first few days chasing toys nonstop. Pro tip: Don’t use a laser pointer! What media shows may be cool to humans, it stresses them out.)
Over time, she picked up new habits—like chasing balls around the house or asking my parents to carry her to the yard where she can look at the world.
She loves watching birds from the upstairs window. Since one of her favorite windows is in my room, she often wanders in in the morning.
I’ve also helped with her—cleaning her with wet wipes, feeding her probiotics, playing with her, and once, removing her from my science project after she tried to eat it!
My brothers are out most of the time because of their ballet classes, Señorita's become my constant companion during the day.
She's sweet and undeniably KAWAII!
Most of the time, she roams the house, eats and naps. She’s still getting used to baths but we keep her clean. Since her immune system is not yet great and she can catch illnesses easily, we don’t let her touch the ground outside—we always carry her.
AMPON ALAGA is a nonprofit that rescues stray animals and helps in finding them families who will love them.
Señorita’s mother was rescued but not spayed, and had an unexpected litter. Good thing things worked out.
So if you’re thinking of getting a pet, please adopt instead of buying from a pet store. You’ll be giving a stray a real home and adoption is often more affordable than buying.
As for the case of Señorita, Ampon Alaga shouldered her first vaccinations and deworming. They gave us a bag of cat food, litter, a litter box and toys when they brought her to us.
Señorita's been a little ray of sunshine in our home—a puffball of happiness.
Look at her! So cute!
That’s it for today, fellow Blogsketteers!
Remember, adopt, don’t shop—you’ll be doing the strays a favor.
Thanks for reading!
