The Alamat experience EP 2: Ang Kuwento ni Juan Tamad - Judah Palacpac
Hello, it's me again. Today, we're going to discuss the second episode of 'Alamat.' But before we dive in, let me quickly recap the story for you.
This episode revolves around a man named Juan. As the title suggests, he's incredibly lazy (or 'tamad,' which means lazy in English). Every time his mom asks him to do something, he takes a detour, and things go awry. For instance, when his mom tasks him with selling bowls to make money for supplies to combat fleas, disaster strikes.
On his way, the bowls break, and instead of fixing them, he rolls the dust into leaves and sells them as flea killers. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't go well.
Then, when his mother instructs him to buy salt, he passes by a beach. He's tempted to swim but fears his money might be stolen, so he buries it in the sand, marking the spot with a rock. Unfortunately, the waves bury his money, leaving him empty-handed. In the midst of these misadventures, he encounters a girl named Maria just as his boat is about to plunge over a waterfall. It's love at first sight for him, and from that day forward, he greets her daily.
Maria's mother, however, is annoyed and chases him away whenever he visits. One day, Juan's mother falls ill, and he can no longer visit Maria because he needs to care for his mom. After explaining the situation to Maria, who believed he had become lazy, she assists him in caring for his mother.
When Maria's mother questions their intentions, Juan declares, 'I can prove it,' and indeed, he does. In the end, Juan and Maria live happily ever after.
So, what can we say about this episode? Well, the animation is excellent, and the narrative is captivating. Moreover, it imparts a valuable lesson: 'Nothing happens to those who don't take action.'
That's all I have to say. If you want to watch the episode, here's the link:
